New bio-fungicide launched for preventative Botrytis and powdery mildew control

Certis has announced the launch of an exciting new bio-fungicide, Amylo-X® WG, which has proven preventative efficacy against Botrytis, powdery mildew and Sclerotinia spp. in a variety of protected crops.

With Botrytis and powdery mildew levels predicted to be high this season due to a wet autumn and mild winter, control before the disease takes hold will be vital to ensure crop health is maintained.

Introducing a preventative bio-fungicide early in the spray programme can help give crops the best start.

With a unique mode of action, Amylo-X® WG works proactively to compete for space with the pathogens in the canopy as well as promoting growth by boosting the immune system of the plant and preventing infection.

Containing the bacteria, Bacillus amyloliquefaciens subsp. plantarum strain D747, the unique formulation contains higher levels of bacterial colony forming units meaning that dose rates are relatively low compared to other preventative products based on Bacillus species.

Amylo-X® WG has a short harvest interval, is exempt from Maximum Residue Levels, and can be used across a wide variety of protected crops.

Getting the most out of bio-fungicides

  • Utilise preventative modes of action early in the programme
  • Ensure that the bio-fungicide is compatible with other biorational and conventional products being used
  • Monitor disease pressure and be prepared to adapt spray intervals - if disease pressures increase then decrease spray intervals
  • Ensure good coverage of the crop through effective application
  • Always check spray equipment is clean before use, with no residues from previous products
