With blight warnings from AHDB, using the new Hutton Criteria, already appearing due to recent warm and humid weather, it’s vital that growers are now implementing a robust blight control programme, to stay ahead of the disease before it’s too late.
Once the effects of blight are seen, it’s often too late, so planning tight spray intervals where possible to maximise the preventative properties of blight products is vital.
Be careful to take heed of warnings to protect crops as they come into full growth, especially during hot and humid weather.
Protecting your crop
It’s important to start your blight control programme as early as possible. As Valbon and ZinZan can be used as early as rosette stage for controlling blight, this offers a chance to get on early with these products.
Growers should be applying blight control products every 7 to 10 days, depending on the label, throughout the season.
